David Jefferson Litster

Place: Provo, Utah
Problem: David is kind of the handy man at the house they live in- he does all kinds of odd and random jobs for the owners. Last spring they asked him to aerate the lawn, front yard with the attachment connected to the riding lawn-mower? No problem. The backyard that is raise and only stair accessable with no way to get the mower onto (we check out the other side and the fence in the back- no good)?? Problem. But now one that couldn't be fixed with a little GDS ingenuity!! And some manpower.
Solution: David hitched up a harness to pull the contraption, but it wasn't doing the job because it didn't have weight on it to push the aerating things into the ground enough... enter Jonnie.
Materials used: Tow harneses, two burly men-folk.
It was tiring work, so they had to trade off. Which made for some great pics.

Jonathan William Litster

Place: Boise, Idaho- Home of William Jefferson Litster
Problem: Lamp hanging too low over the dining room table resulting in Jonnie banging his head on it frequently.
Solution: Raise lamp.
Materials used: Wire coat hanger.

Problem solved. The Legacy lives on!

Robin Litster Johnson

This post comes to us today from Los Angeles.
While I was in LA this week I stayed a night with the Johnson's and while being introduced to my sleeping quarters in the garage-turned-into-Rachel's-High-School-bedroom, Robin introduced me to a few GDS's that are noteworthy.

Notice the lighting that is made more accessible by the lanyards attached to the pull-strings. Then the homemade shelves (IKEA? I don't need no stinkin' IKEA!)

Finally, the Pièce de résistance: the cooling unit. The garage space is split into two rooms, a library and Rachel's room. Because the 'room' that was once the garage was not originally included in the 'house', the heating and cooling is controlled separately by floor heaters and an air-conditioning unit that is located where the door to the outside used to be. Only problem is, this cools the library, but not the room. So Robin came up with a way to get the cool air to that part of the space using a mailbox, velcro, a plastic pipe, token duct tape, and her GDS creative skills.










The Legacy does indeed live on.

Inspiration

Firstly I would like to thank Eric Litster, son of David Sherman and Janet, for inspiring this blog many months ago when he posted this on facebook with the title: "The best gds in the Boise state computer lab... To cool the
projector :)"
It made me realize that we share a special bond as children of GrandDaddy and should therefore have a place to joy in this gift that we have. Therefore, I would like to open and christen this blog as that place and encourage all Litsters to participate!
